Somerset Township, MI Fire Department implements OnSite ERT™

Ann Arbor, MI -- October 31, 2007 – ERT Systems, a leading provider of automated resource tracking systems for emergency responders, announced today that the Somerset Township, MI, has successfully implemented OnSite ERT for tracking and locating its firefighters on-scene at emergency events. The township was trained on the solution on October 4 th , 2007 and very quickly put it into action on October 6 th, 2007.

The township uses OnSite ERT to automatically track and locate firefighters and equipment on-scene at emergency events. The system consists of incident command software, drop-readers to read tags and wireless tracking tags. The township covers 36 square miles and has a mutual-aid pact with Onsite ERT
customer Cambridge Township, MI.

According to Chief Scott Friess “Two days after the solution was delivered and we were trained, we needed if for a house fire. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to use.” Chief Friess also said, “I was very pleased at how well this works. It is not often that technology works so well the first time you use it. It made my state fire
report easy to do and I attached the OnSite tracking report directly to the fire report. Somerset Township covers 36 square miles, has a population of 4,000 and is part of the team that covers the Michigan International Speedway which plays host to NASCAR and Indy race events where the population can approach 250,000 on race weekends generating 100 to 150 emergency calls.
