Shelby Township, MI Implements OnSite ERT™
Ann Arbor, MI -- June 5, 2007 – The Charter Township of Shelby, MI, has
implemented OnSite ERT for tracking and locating its firefighters on-scene at
emergency events. The township began training on the system in May 2007,
outfitting all 5 of the fire department’s response vehicles and 60 personnel with
OnSite wireless tracking tags and receivers.
According to George Morehouse, Shelby Township Fire Chief, “Every time our
firefighters go out, we are concerned about safety. We invested in OnSite ERT so
that we automatically know when someone arrives at the scene, continuously track
where they are, and log their assignments. The better we can manage our
resources, the safer we can keep our firefighters and citizens.” The Shelby Fire
Department protects approximately 65,000 residents over an area of over 35 square
miles.
