Cambridge Township, MI Fire Department Selects OnSite ERT™

Ann Arbor, MI -- July 10, 2007 -- ERT Systems announced today that the Township of Cambridge, MI, has purchased OnSite ERT to automatically track and locate firefighters and equipment on-scene at emergency events. The township serves Cambridge, Norvell, and Rome Townships, with 8 emergency vehicles and 40 personnel.

“As we looked for technology to improve safety, we struggled to find anything on the market that was easy to use and not labor intensive, until we found OnSite ERT,” said Cambridge Township Fire Chief Scott Damon. “We put it to the test and used it at a live burn. With OnSite ERT you simply turn it on, and it will find and track all of the resources at the scene.” According to Chief Damon, “it’s a great solution for volunteer departments where we don’t have the resources to implement a complicated accountability system. There’s just nothing else like it.”

The townships of Cambridge, Norvell and Rome have a population of approximately 10,000 over 97 square miles. As a popular resort area, the population doubles in the summer months. The department is also responsible for servicing the Michigan International Speedway, which hosts NASCAR and Indy race events during which the population can reach 250,000 and generate 100 to 150 emergency calls over a single weekend.
